Joshua Blayhi was born deep in the bush of Liberia, his father had been refused a place as his tribes High Priest on the grounds that he was too western and educated, so he was given the choice to pass down the honour to a son. Joshua's mother was picked as a suitable woman and Joshua was conceived with the purpose of becoming High Priest of the Krahn tribe. He lived with his mother for the first three years of his life and then with his father for the next four years, until the age of seven when he moved into the bush to live with the tribe elders and priests to learn traditional practices and more importantly Juju witchcraft. In training he didn't see sunlight for 3 years and when he was ready at the age of 11 he became President Samuel K Doe's chief adviser to traditional practices.
Que the start of the civil war when Charles Taylor rises up against President Doe, almost immediately Joshua is assigned to a military position where General Butt- Naked is born. Butt- Naked was arguably the most notorious warlord of Liberia's civil war infamous for his use of Juju witchcraft. Ritual killings, the use of hallucinogenic drugs, child soldiers and of course a mandatory naked fighting policy quickly established him as one of the most feared men in Liberia.
Shortly before the end of the war Butt-Naked claims to of had an epiphany where he met God, who told him to turn his back on witchcraft, at this point he renounced his traditional practices and turned into a Christian, from that point on he has been known as Pastor Joshua Blahyi.
